  17. <p>     In the National Hockey League, where violence is routine, the
  18. cheap shot that Washington Capitals center Dale Hunter put on
  19. New York Islander Pierre Turgeon bordered on the criminal.
  20. After scoring the Islanders' winning goal, Turgeon skated away
  21. in unguarded celebration. But Hunter stalked the unsuspecting
  22. Islander high scorer half the width of the rink, blindsiding him
  23. with a vicious check that separated his shoulder and sidelined
  24. him for the rest of the play-offs. Hunter will pay for his
  25. revenge: a 21-game suspension next season and $150,000 docked
  26. from his salary.
